House Republicans are celebrating the fact they just voted to make healthcare unaffordable again. It's time to fight back!
ACTION #1: Write a letter to the editor
Letters to the editor (LTEs) are a powerful tool. They have massive reach and can fight back against false media narratives or help correct the record.

The Republican Party rammed through a bill with no hearing and no budget score to know how it will impact our economy to score political points. It's shameful and outrageous.
This is an immoral bill that nonpartisan analysts agree will make insurance unaffordable. Insurance companies will have the power to charge seniors five times more and states will have the power to take away mandated coverage for basic health services.
The lie that pre-existing conditions are covered is just that -- a lie. States can opt-out of minimum benefits coverage, and high-risk pools for patients have been tried in some 35 states and have failed to lower costs or improve health care for the sickest Americans.
This bill isn't about freedom for us -- the patients. It's about giving insurance companies the freedom to rip us off, raise our premiums, and deny us coverage to pad their bottom line.
Hopefully, the Senate will kill this disastrous bill and stand up for patients and their pocketbooks again.
ACTION #2: CALL YOUR MEMBERS IN CONGRESS TO THANK THEM FOR VOTING NO OR SHAME THEM FOR VOTING YES
Just because the vote is over doesn't mean we stop calling the House. Call your Representative today. If you're in Illinois, click here for phone numbers. If you're not in Illinois, click here to look up your elected's contact information. NOTE: If you don't have luck at their DC number, call a district office (numbers for those are on their websites).
SCRIPT IF YOUR REPRESENTATIVE VOTED NO (THE CORRECT POSITION): "Hello, my name is X and I am a constituent. I am calling to thank Rep. X for rejecting the GOP's immoral health insurance plan. It means a lot to have someone like Rep. X fighting for patients and their families. Keep up the good fight. Thank you."
SCRIPT IF YOUR REPRESENTATIVE VOTED YES (THE WRONG POSITION):
"Hello, my name is X and I am a constituent. I am calling to say how shameful it is that Rep. X voted in favor of the immoral health insurance bill. I was appalled to see Rep. X take the side of the insurance companies and give wealthy Americans a tax cut while leaving the sickest Americans out in the cold. I will do everything in my power to ensure voters in our district know about Rep. X's betrayal. Thank you."
Personal stories of how repeal would affect yourself, friends, or family are particularly effective if you have them.
If you leave a message, don't forget to leave your name, address, and zip code so your rep knows you're a constituent.
ACTION #3: CALL YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY WHO HAVE REPUBLICAN REPRESENTATIVES
Please forward this page to your friends and family who live in more conservative districts, or share it on Facebook with a note asking those who live in red districts to action.
